Default Quietest 2.5" dual exhaust muffler available today?

Hello everyone!

I know mufflers have been discussed many times over, but here is a simple question:

What is the QUIETEST 2.5" muffler for a dual exhaust system on the market today?

Thanks!!

The stock style mufflers that came on my Mach1 were real quiet (and quite restrictive).
It felt like I picked up about 15-20 HP just going with Flowmaster 44s, and got much more sound (which was good for me).
You could just have a muffler shop add resonators to the setup you have now (assuming the pipes are good). That would quiet it alot and for not much money. Resonators would also be the best cure for hiway drone (if that is your issue now).
BTW diameter doesn't matter: a muffler shop can retain your present 2.5" system. It's easy to up-size (or down-size) any muffler.

welll depending on your car here are some options

(economy dual exhaust )

(has resonators)

I personally my self recommend the shelby side exhaust, i have it and sounds very muscle car not overwhelmingly loud but sounds awesome and the way a classic mustang should be at full throttle.

Sorry, should have provided some more details:

408W stroker
JBA shortie headers
JBA 2.5" dual exhaust with H pipe

Have tried various mufflers......nothing quiet enough though......

Have tried the stock JBAs that came with the exhaust system
Summit Turbos
Flowmasters 50 series Delta Flow (on now)

Its more overall noise level than drone, or anything else.

I haven't ever heard how quiet Hushpowers are, but because of their name...

I would say it's your headers making most of the noise. Go back to stock Ford manifolds or iron hi-po minifolds.
I still say resonators would help too, as would the stock Ford Mustang mufflers (not Shelby). Any muffler shop worth a salt would be able to get a stock equivelent muffler. Do all 3 and you'll be quiet like a Lincoln!
All those mufflers you listed are low restriction, therefore noisy.
Also you want the exhaust to exit out the back, Shelby side pipes would be louder than rear exit, plus the exhaust smell.
Note that anything you do to cut noise is going to add restriction and probably noticably less power.

I agree. Same issue here. I have the Magnaflow 2 1/2" system on my '66 and changed out the mufflers to Dynaflo Turbos; helped a bit. But when next to another '66 with the same system (w/ Magnaflow mufflers), what a difference! It was quiet! He had stock exh manifolds and I have shortys. He also had stock heads (maybe ported ) and I have AFR 185 heads. I, too, don't have drone but an overly deep rumbling that's constant, and annoying. I'm going to try the additional resonator trick. This is getting expensive!
