Smile 1966 Mustang Coupe for a Newbie

I'm about to purchase my first classic, a 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe (Base model). I'm just starting to get into the classic car scene (now that I have the money to do so) and I'm looking for some advice. I'm not %100 sure what exactly I want to do to it performance wise. I already have really good ideas and plans cosmetically, but I don't know where to start with the performance.

Here's what I know for a fact about the car so far:
  • Newly remanufactured 302
  • 4-speed Hurst shifter
  • After-market headers

Outside of that as far as I know everything else is stock. Pleast help.

I haven't taken any pictures myself but here's a link to the craigslist ad that has some pictures from the person I just bought it from. Please do not contact this person it is NO LONGER FOR SALE. http://easttexas.craigslist.org/cto/3735486535.html
