Default mustang to comet

So i have been in the process of building a 65 mustang. However i found a smokin deal on a 65 comet. it is complete and nice other than no engine.
So i have decided to scrap the stang project and use the parts on the comet. How much of mustang parts will cross over?

rear end, is it the same width?

front suspension, I have all new mustang parts will they work on the comet? ie disc brake conversion, springs, control arms, steering parts.

steering column? can i put the mustang column in the comet?

motor mounts?

thanks guys..

pretty sure most everything will swap over the comet is just a mercury variant of the falcon and the mustang is based off of it

The 1965 Comet engine bay is +-1" shorter and +- 1" narrower.
Brakes will transfer
Springs will not transfer correctly, even though they will fit.
Center link for the Comet is 1 5/8"+- shorter. The Mustang will NOT work because of this. Power steering setup is quite a bit different. Manual steering components other than the center link are the same.
Comet steering column gear box shaft is a bit longer than the Mustang, so the gear box won't work.
It's been a long time since I've messed with the Comets, but I believe they don't have a lower crossmember as do the Mustangs. The V8 Comet would greatly benefit from installing one.
If you will be retaining the column shifting setup in the Comet, you will have pretty good exhaust system challenges on the driver's side. The Comet exhaust manifold for column shifting is terrible flow-wise.
If the Comet is an original 6 cylinder, you will have challenges installing a V8 accelerator linkeage setup. The Comet uses a somewhat unique bellcrank setup at the rear of the intake that will be difficult to locate. The Mustang accelerator pedal and linkage setup can be used but with some interesting engineering. The Comet's firewall is the problem.
I was always a big fan of the Falson (essentially identical to the Comet), but, as can be seen above, they aren't for everybody. Good luck, and don't hesitate to ask if you have questions. I've made just about every mistake imaginable with your project.
Best,
Al

Comets are just not done enough, imo.

I had a 65 Comet 4 door in high school. It was turquoise with a white top and quite a chick magnet...not!
