Yes..You get a scavenging effect which helps improve hp and even gas mileage..I have never had any fitment problems with longtubes with your combination..There is tons of room with the smallblock engines.Even a relatively cheap header like a hedman should fit your needs.

Actually the long tubes perform better everywhere but there advantage over shorties is usually more in the low and mid range.

If you want a serious corner carver and plan to make suspension a priority, then a shorty or mid length may be better. If you have serious ground clearance problems in your area (speed bumps, driveway entrances etc) then probably a shorty. If you're concerned about making slightly more power, LT's, especially in a drag car.
Ultimate header would be a custom built stepped header....but you need to have some serious engine to justify that kind of a header (and the expense).
