Hi, okay so i hope i can explain this without it being confusing...I have a 1985 302 block in my '66 Mustang. On this block it appears that i have 351 Cleveland heads, i say this because the exhaust bolts pattern is diagonal instead of straight across...i cannot find any 351W or 302 block haeds that have this bolt pattern. The problem is my valve springs are directly in line, and i cannot find 351C heads that dont have the valve springs offset either...Now down to the questions:

Does this make my engine setup that of a boss 302 motor?
Is this setup more efficient than say having aftermarket 302 heads?
I had the engine bored out .040 over(bad pitting on the cylinder walls), with these heads am i going to have terible overheating problems because of the added compression/higher flow valves?

Generally i am just looking for some advice, im new to this whole car restoration business and i dont want to screw it all up. Thanks to anyone whom has an input. Remember no reply is unwanted, im seriously just trying to get some opions for the experts.

are the heads aftermarket?

are they aluminum?

whatever heads they are there will be a name or part number on them. it might be under the valve cover

Didn't some of the SVO heads have diagonal patterns?

The heads are aftermarket im assuming, they sure didn't come one the engine, and they are aluminum...


They were painted years back, i cannot find a part number anywhere, but i suppose im not looking good enough, will recheck and reply.

Being aluminum is a good thing, but without specific head data it's hard to tell if they an asset to your build.
