Kinda hard not to when we both have 88 F150 4x4s and both have stangs we plan to 302 swap (granted mine is a fox body).

Getting somewhere now. Got the 98 GT40 motor in the garage and torn down. Doesn't look quite as clean as the last but at least the block looks good. I can still see the factory cross hatching. There was a "rough spot" in the rotating assembly, but I kept turning it over and its feeling more smooth everytime, almost like there's a rust ridge in the cylinder walls where the pistons chilled. But here's some pics.

I went to Wilkesboro Raceway Park this past Sunday and saw some awesome foxbodies. I'm almost tempted to use the GT40 heads and run the factory bottom end for now, from what I heard about GT40 motors. That way I can have a little extra change for a nicer trans and rear end. But we'll see.

Whew. This build is going molasses slow guys. I apologize. I figured work would slow down going into the winter time (Commercial Refrigeration), but its kept me running around. Plus I've been focused on my truck a little too much (got it ready for uwharrie national forest, nc and spent a whole day down there). But anywho, got the motor all the way torn down. I've looked at the prices for stroker kits, aluminum heads, etc, before, but I really didn't start adding everything up until now. So it looks like it's gonna be a GT40 top end (still a great head), and the bottom end it probably going to see new bearings and rings, all that good stuff. This way will save me money for a decent T5, with the cable conversion, crossmemeber, driveshaft, etc. Also is going to save some money for motor accessories -carb, intake, cam, oil pan, dizzy, wiring, etc.

So here's my next question to you guys. I've been doing a lot of research on the Mustang Steve clutch cable conversion kit, and I'm not entirely sure which kit I need. I'm going to stay away from a hydraulic kit for now, and keep it simple with the cable as I was satisfied with the cable driven clutch in my 2000 GT. But as for all the parts I need for the T5 - Would I just need the quadrant, firewall brace, and a crossmember? - The kits I see on the site include a pedal assembly, but the car is already a manual, so I assume I dont need the entire pedal assembly.

Also, I like the Modern Driveline T5 Crossmemeber because it retains the factory parking brake cable fulcrum mount, but I'm a little worried where the transmission is going to end up.

My plans are to get the T-5 (That I'm still looking for) bolted up to my 5.0 with my oil pan on, get the T-5 bolted in with the crossmember under the car, lower the motor/transmission combo down to the engine crossmeber, get everything lined up straight and tack in the new motor mounts.
