Default VIN number history needed

Hello all,

Recently, I did a "classic" VIN number search and found that my '66 Mustang I am retro-modding was built on February 1st, 1966, and it included a couple of other details. I wished I printed the page!!!! Now, for the life of me, I can't find it anymore.

Does anyone know which website it is that will give you detailed information on your car, like the day it was built? I NOT talking about VIN decoders. Those are all over the place.

Thanks for your help.

the scheduled build date is on the door tag . . if the tag is missing you can buy a book that has a lot of them.

kevin marti also has a lot of info on build dates

martiautoworks.com

barnett468; I'm not sure what you mean by "scheduled build date". To my knowledge, nothing on any data plate lists the exact very day it was built.

I know there are lots of websites to read the data codes. I want more history than that. Somehow, a few months ago I found a website that listed that my car was built on February 1st. 1966. I should have printed it, and I would have, if I knew how much trouble it was going to be to find it again.

At any rate, I called Ford Motor Company's customer service number and a customer rep is supposed to get to back to me in a day or two. From what I've read, I looking for a "History 999 Report". It's a letter from FoMoCo that details precisely what I'm after; day of build, ext. color, int. color, etc, etc, etc.

Thanks for your help.

Oh, BTW, Marti reports don't go back to '66. 1967 is their first year they have reports, except in a few rare cases. (and mine isn't one of them)

When Ford gets back to me, if they have what i want, I'll post a copy to this list.

The Ford customer service rep called me today and she emailed me what I needed. She emailed me a PDF document that has all the pertinent information I was seeking. I wanted everything in an official printable format, with a Ford letterhead logo.

Barnett468 is correct about the scheduled build date on the door. My Mustang's scheduled build date for my '66 was Feb 1, 1966.

Thanks for the responses.

Did the History 999 Report show what options the car came with? We have no documentation on our GT, and would love paper proof that it came as a GT

i did mean that you should ask for a marti report . . i said you can call and see if he can give you the approximate scheduled build date . . i have gotren many approximate scheduled build dates from him before but i know him so he may not have given you the info but you never know intil you try

you will never, ever, ever know exatcly what date it was actually built because it may have been built on a different day than the tag says . . i had 1968 mustang number 4 but it was built 2 months after the door tag date, lol.
