Restoration Problem - Lack of Power
All,
I am restoring a 65 Mustang and have installed a new original type wiring harness, however, when I tried to start the car I have no power coming into the instrument cluster and cannot start the car.
The starter is new, the solenoid is new, the battery is new and I can jump start the car but cannot start it with the key.
Has anyone encountered this problem before? Can it be a wiring issue or something simple that I am missing? Thanks for the feedback.

With out the answers for 67 Mustang302 it it hard to trouble shoot. You should always have power into the dash.
First thought, if it doesn't crank, check the neutral switch. Even with manual you need a jumper to jump out the switch. It is on a connector under the hood on the driver side a top the engine near the brake master cylinder.
Next make sure that the small wires to the solenoid are on the correct terminals. One terminal goes to the start switch to pull in the solenoid relay and the other jumpers out the resistance wire to the ignition coil during start up. If they are backwards the ignition switch does nothing.
Make sure the ignition switch is not hooked up incorrectly.
I believe it should be looking from the connector end, starting at the flat going clockwise
B yellow battery
C Pink resistance wire
S start Red-Blue
Center is A for accessories The threaded shaft with the nut
Some switches have a second accessory terminal
Some switches have a terminal on the outside that is used as a light check. When the key is turned to start, this terminal is connected to ground. Idiot lights (brake,Gen etc.) on the dash are connected to this and they light up as a bulb check during starting.
Good luck
