Default DUI distributor for 289....opinions?

Hey folks, am planning a fairly complete rebuild of my current 289, and have been looking hard at this "DUI" distributor/ignition system from Performance Distributors. But...I don't know anyone who has actually used this. Anybody out there running one of these? If so..how do you like it?
I'm currently running an old used Duraspark setup off an '85 302. Been having some strange electrical issues, such as a tach that will only read about 1/2 actual rpm, and "pulses" about 100-200 rpm when cruising at around 2200 rpm. It's an Auto Meter tach, so it's not a piece of crap. Been to 2 different auto electrical shops and they can't figure it out...nor Auto Gage tech support. Anyway...want a better ignition system anyway when I redo the engine, regardless of the tach issue.

HELLO;

UNLESS YOU HAVE A VERY HIGH HP ENGINE JUST A SIMPLE STOCK DISTRIBUTOR WITH A PERTRONIX 1 AND AN LSD EPOXY ANTI VIBRATION COIL ARE ALL YOU NEED.

YOU NEED TO SET THE TIMIMNG CURVE IN ANY DISTRIBUTOR YOU GET.
.

Barnett, any links to an anti vibration coil? Do you mean MSD, not LSD?

This maybe?

I bought one from Amazon for about $37.00 . It was brand new and works great.
