Coolant setup, what's best!?

What kind of coolant/ water mixture do you guys run!? What works best for you

Starfury Jun 23, 2015 01:54 PM

I run 60/40 water/coolant, and I use universal long-life coolant designed for engines with high aluminum composition, as well as a bottle of water wetter. A 50/50 mix will get you better corrosion resistance/longevity, but 60/40 achieves slightly improved cooling.

50/50 motorcraft extended life gold, prolly the same composition as what starfury is running

50/50 any of the major brands safe for aluminum components. More important to change it and keep it fresh than the brand. IMO

I had my Stang for a while and rebuilt engine and have done all motor work myself. The green stuff works ok when you get the mixture exact but some parts don't agree with it and it will clump of you don't run it everyday. I use Mercedes blue antifreeze. Has a lower boiling temp and works wonders.little more expensive but worth every penny!

.
depends on the engine but in general 25% ethylene glycol anti freeze, 75% water then some amsoil or dei rad additive.

180 - 185 thermostat.
