Default 66 mustang heater doesn't work very well

The heating on my 66 mustsng 6 cylinder does not work very well. I turn the switch all the way on, then put the left two sliders down and yes the heat will come on out the defrost up front, but it barely comes out. I dont expect it to blast out, the car is old. But, I do expect it to make a slight difference, like it BARELY comes out...I can blow out my mouth better than it does. Anybody know why this is?

Where is that?

I ordered a heater rebuilt kit from laurel mountain but they did not send me the heater core or the defrost hose clips with it and now I can't get in touch with them! It's been almost a month! So I was gonna wait to do the install until that came in but it doesn't seem i will get it.

Your fan is under the dash by the heater box.

Does your fan sound like it's kicking a ton of *** or does it sound like it's barely turning? If you turn it on and have it coming out towards the floor, how is the volume then?

Your defrost duct work may be tore up or missing altogether.

Well, we I first turn it on, it makes some really weird sound for a few seconds. Then whej it stops, it spunds like its bately turning., definitely not kicking ***. And one defrost hose is connected up there but one is broken and laying down by the passanger feet (that's why I bought the rebuild kit)

Those old fans have some nice volume when they are working correctly so it sounds like your fan motor is the problem. You can try taking it out and oiling it to see if you can save a few bucks before you spend on a replacement.

Could also be the fan speed resistors but from your noise comment, probably the fan motor. Easy replacement of both fan and resistors.

As hard as it is to get the heater box out, if you have to pull it - be sure to rebuild everything inside. Also, if you remove the fan (which you can do without removing the box) be sure to check the squirrel cage (fan wheel) to make sure it's in good condition and not wobbly. If so, it will wipe out a new fan in no time. All of these parts are available.

My heater in my 66 sucks. But the a/c is kick a$$ so I mostly just ignore the heat. Living in SE Texas there's not that much use for it anyway.
