Default 96 351W Roller Block into 427 Stroker

Gone through a few threads and haven't really seen the answer I'm looking for, and I'm not sure this is the right spot for it, so moderator, help me out if it isn't

I have a 1973 Mach 1 Im putting a 1996 or so OE Roller Block in. Looking to do a 427 stroker with Twisted Wedge 170 heads.

Will these heads be enough? I am on a sort of budget. I am not gonna skimp on my internals, forged inside. But I am also looking use this as a primary street vehicle. Not too concerned with revs. I need half decent gas mileage. BUT. Every year I want to take it to Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. It is a 1.8 mile road course where they hold the Ford and Shelby High-Perf Meet every year. Lots of curves and the longest straight is .3 miles, so I think a good amount of low end is in order (thus the long stroke).

Opinions on this theory?
Can I port the 170s enough to get good numbers with a good cam?
What kind of numbers?

Here is the Strokr kit, comes with special pistons for use with TFS TW heads.

Those heads seem too small for that many cubes...might be a torque monster though.
For numbers, download a free version of dyno2000 and input good values. Remember GIGO?

I'm a Computer Engineering Systems Major, I'm familiar with GIGO

I was wndering if I could at-home port them to flow better. I think Ive also changed my mind. I will probably go 408. I dont really need the torque of the 427, not quite that much anyway. So it'll be a 408, would some clean up porting be enough on the 170? Ive heard the way the valves sit allows them to flow similar o a 180.

What are the flow numbers?
How much do they cost?
A 393 will save a few bucks on the bottom end, leaving more for the top end.
You might get better, but without porting experience you might not...

are you changing your rear gears?

what trans?

how far do you want to rev it?

i would not do a 427 for the street if you want to get a lot of miles out of it.

a 408 or 418 would be better.

no you can not port those heads yourself.

buy bigger heads.

run an eddy air gap intake

use a quick fuel carb

a roller cam would be best but they ain't cheap

if you want good mileage buy an overdrive.

buy either of these

I want to run a T5, rebuilt so it will (maybe) hold up. Looking at 3.55 rear gears. I dont want it to rev far, maybe "redline" at 5500. I'm gonna go 408 instead, seems to be better all around.
Cant afford roller cam, may save up to one though.

the 170s arent big enough you will make small block power with those...

i have a 331 with tfs 170 heads. I am putting down 399 hp and 420ftlbs at the flywheel. or at least was before i installed the crappy atomic efi.

IMO you must get bigger heads. see the post above. the 190s would be great. Also, i have a t5 behind my 331. IT IS MY 4TH TRANS. this time i had a very strong one built. but i dont think it will last long either.

TKO would be the only way to go other than a c6 with overdrive
