Build a 408 stroker, whatever heads you get, port match to the intake and gaskets. Think will be a torque monster. I had been contemplating a 331 screamer or a 408 for my 66. But alas saving for a house in California has sucked up a majority of my funds and will continue to do so. I'll stick with my little 289 for now.

I've been leaning this way. These next two months worth of extra funds are going ot the body guy.. needs a fair bit of work. Then time to consider the engine. Meanwhile I'll see what deals I can find.

Thank you.

You need to get this "deal" and "budget" mindest out of your head . There are NO DEALS on these parts . By them from Summit Racing and be done with it all in one shot . I posted some of the best "deals" there are already.

I dunno.. I just picked up a set of unused AFR 165 heads for $950 last night. I'll keep or flip them. I've seen several unused short blocks in the last few months. I've already picked up an awesome pair of leather seats build on brand new frames/tracks/foam for $400. I'll need to strip the white dye off and re-dye in black. You'd be surprised how deep people get into a build and then for whatever reason start selling everything. Even retailers have annual/holiday sales. Sales are a big part of the fun..

Well, those heads are too small for your app and you won't make much, if any money on them . $700.00 or less if they are brand new would have been a price you could make some money on them at.

Leather seat belts and seat frames and foam have nothing to do with your engine so that's irrelevant.

I am not surprised by anything since I have been building cars and engines and buying and selling them for a living for 40 years.

If you want to be in the parts selling business, I will gladly sell you my $50,000.00 inventory of new and used 64 thru 70 Mustang parts for half price . You could make a killing and have a lot of "fun" selling them.
.
