cracks in brake pads
Even though my brake pads haven't neared the rivets in my '65 Mustang, I have little hairline cracks in some of them. A mechanic told me I need to replace. Does anyone know if driving with these cracks is dangerous, or will cause other problems? Any idea what caused the cracks in the first place

Replace. It could be very dangerous if large chunks of pad break off. Heat from hard use would be my guess for initial cause.

How old are they? Most pads are bonded not riveted anymore. Cause, age, heat, poor material bad wheel bearing, etc. As odypilot said" if chunks brake off you might be in trouble.
