OK, let's assume you can get through the hole from the back seat. And, let's assume there isn't some heavy stuff in the way that won't fit through that hole so you can get a clear access to the lock mechanism. Now, once you get there with your trusty flashlight, you will be faced with this. The only possible way to get the lock to turn loose will be to take the two bolts out using a 1/2" socket. But, will that do it? Even if it did, and you managed to get the lock to turn loose, you still either have to have a locksmith make you a new key, or replace the mechanism with a new key. Why not save all that back breaking and frustrating experience, and just have a locksmith do the job from the get-go?

needle nose pliers, reach in, and turn that little square in that hole. Bingo. Yeah, i was just saying, he asked how to get it open and i told him. Well, at least my impala works like that.
