93 octane in Denver?
 
Does anyone know where there is a station selling 93 octane. I'd like to run a 93 tune, but I haven't seen any stations that sell it.

you dont need 93 oct to run the 93 tune in this altitude.

Really? How does that work? I was thinking about doing a 93 and using octane booster with 91.

well ive been running 91 since i got the tune...Its just to help prevent against detonation...but being NA your chances are extremely slim. If you were forced induction id worry more about it. But its not that big of a difference. Just adds a little more aggressive timing. If you are that worried go for it. But I wouldn't.
If cars needed 93 here they would offer it. But they dont. At sea level its two points higher for each grade typically. 89 91 93. Ive even seen as high as 95 in michigan.

my buddy who had a fully build livernois stroker with a kenne bell mammoth and 700whp ran 91. So i think you'll be fine...

The lower absolute pressure in the cylinder creates less heat when it's compressed, hence the lower octane rating works fine. Now, as with any car you can tune, the higher octane you can tune to, the better. I think most people use toluene for octane booster, though.

You can run a tank and listen for pinging...but I dont think you'll have have an issue. Basically higher octane has a greater ability to be compressed with out detonating before the spark which causes problems. In the altitude there is less compression due to the density of the air. If you were running 11:1 or boosted application id worry about it. But like i mentioned above if it give you peace of mind to run a booster go for it. But not this guy.

If i make a trip to sea level ill make sure i have more octane before getting there. but that would be my only concern.

So would going to the 93 tune make that much of a difference? My next time I have to get new tunes I will have them do 93.

you wont notice alot. i noticed more midrange. but i datalogged and had a couple revised tunes that honed it in nice

I've never bought 93 octane but have been interested. How much does it run per gallon?
