Default Late Model Resto lines don't fit

I have an 88 GT Convertible. We bought it back in May '12, and the top would go down fine, but would need assistance going back up. The PO said he thought the cylinders were leaking because he would usually have to top off the fluid. I talked to a guy a few weeks ago that said the lines usually go bad before the cylinders, so I ordered a new set from Late Model Resto. I just came back in from a greuling 2.5 hr escapade of getting them swapped out only to find they won't work!

First off, the hoses are 2 different lengths. Neither are as long as the factory lines, but one fits fine, but the other is too short to reach the bottom and also too short to reach the top line if routed correctly. It fits if It's routed over the top of the cylinder, which causes it to rub against the hinges when dropped. Also, the fittings won't tighten into the top location of the cylinders. They screw in fine to start with, then right about the time they should start to cinch down tight, they just keep turning.

Has anyone else had a similar issue, and what did you do to fix it?

Jarrod, thanks for the reply. I did call and talk to someone on the phone, and he tried to help as much as possible. One of the problems was definetly the cylinders. The top section that was plastic had stripped threads keepin the fittings from tightening. I replcaed the cylinders, and the lines are still on the short side, but I have them somewhat tucked out of the way, and will just wrap some heater hose around them to protect them for now.
