Default Automated car wash, and convertibles?

I never owned a convertible before. Today we bought a 2012 Mustang V6 Convertible, and drove it about 200 miles on salt covered roads. I am going to put it away in my garage, but would like to go through an automated wash to remove the salt, with the underbody flush.

I see the manual says not to let hot waxes be sprayed on the top, and to avoid high pressure washes, as they may damage seals, and cause water leaks.

So how do people wash the underbody, when exposed to salt?

You could just get yourself a pressure washer....back it up on some ramps & get it from behind. Then drive it forward on the ramps & get the front???

I have a pressure washer. You aren't supposed to run it in freezing temps, plus it would be a mess.
I think I will just use one of those bent flowering attachments and a regular hose, if it ever gets above freezing.
Thanks.

Do you have a quarter, do it yourself car wash local? I use those if I had to drive the 99 in the salty stuff.

Ron, Welcome to the forum! We've had two convertibles over the last 12 year and run them through car washes on a regular basis. The new verts can take weather nearly as well as a coupe without leaking, and are fine running through the car wash. I used to cringe at the thought of running them through, but there is no alternative here in winter. I actually prefer the ones with brushes and less of the high pressure sprays.

The closest one is 11 miles away, so by the time I get home, it would be all salty again.

Do you drive your car in Winter? We hope to only use this car in the Summer, so that is why I am trying to keep it salt free. Salt ruined the '66 Mustang I had in '76-'86.

I drive my 3.7 all year, our current vert- stays inside in the winter. I checked under the 3.7 a month ago, still rust free. I had the dealer treat the underside when it was new, not sure if that helped.
I see 2 mustang verts- here all winter.

I drive my vert all winter here in Ma. You can run it through a touchless or do it yourself at one of those self wash places.

Do you use any kind of conditioner like Ragg Topp or Aerospace 303?
