2000 GT CONV FRAME WON'T CLOSE ALL THE WAY
Towards the end of last year my wife told me that something was wrong bc windows won't close correctly against the convert top. Basically she only drove it on sunny days then we put it away for the winter and figured I would deal with it later. Finally now dealing with it and the issue is that you have to force it into the latch position and the frame is buckled. When you close it the top falls a couple inches short of closing and then when you force it closed it buckles. I figured the top had shrunk so I would replace it. I have the old top off(so now just the frame) and still doing the same thing. I unhooked hydraulic cylinders to see if they were restricting but didn't help. Need Some Help Please.......

I'm a newb when it comes to convertibles so I can't offer any experienced help. I did just replace my first top and there were a lot more places to lube than I expected, even the ribs across the top rotate on heim type joints. Since your top is off I would lube and look closely for any joint that is frozen or binding up while some one else operates the top. Good Luck!

Pics added
I added some pics of how the frame is not going forward enough. It falls about 1" to 1-1/2" short. I see no issue where it hinges or anything bent?????? It was working fine until towards the end of last summer.

There is definitely something broken on the frame or linkage.
That second bow is supposed to be about 4" or 5" higher on the top frame.
Take it to an auto upholstery shop and let them look it over. Many times it is free. That is the type of place that regularly works on convertibles. They are specialists.
