Exterior Paint Job on 99 Mustang

I have a 99 v6 Mustang Coupe. It runs great, but the paint is getting a little dull in places, also, it got dinged recently and scratched the paint on the rear left bumper. I'm seriously thinking of getting a full paint job for it; I wouildn't be doing it myself, so I'd like to get some help/recommendations on where to have it done, what kind of paint is best, is a place like Maaco a good place to go, etc. My 'stang color is Performance Red and I want to get it done in the same color, but have it look new. If it helps anyone, I live in The NYC area, Jersey City, NJ.

Thanks!

I haven't used Maaco, but the general feeling is that they are cheap, but not at all the best quality. Also, I don't believe they do much prep work, just pretty much wetsand the car, tape and spray. Maaco or a similar shop is about the only way your going to keep a full paint job under $1000 though. I'd like to have my front end painted, but I'm gonna have to wait for a fender bender or a hail storm :(

Why not get it professionally detailed first? For $150 or so, it would look a lot better and then you would only need to maintain the shine.

sorry didnt mean to hijack your thread. i used maaco in central jersey when i got in an accident ( i kno lol). they were supposed to repaired the hood and paint it with the clear coat. they didnt, however, take the nicks out of the hood, and now the paint is cracking on the hood and in the grill area. i would not reccomend maaco at all, rather spend more and get a high quality one

Well, even if I don't go for the whole job, the rear bumper still needs to be dealt with with...its got to be painted, no question about it; the paint scrapped off all the way down to the metal.

if ur just lookin for a quick fix for the bumper i would say ok. but if your lookin for a good job i wouldnt go to maaco. idk thats just my $.02...ive heard though that if u do the prep work yourself it comes out better at maaco cause they do a crappy job prepping.
