Door doesn't match, advice needed
Ive had my car for over a year now and I've always noticed the driver door paint doesn't exactly match the rest of the car. I let it do so long because its not very noticable and nor do I care WHY the door doesn't match, I just want it matched.
So Should I be repainting the car? the door? both? I have a spray gun and can manage the door by itself but anything else would be far beyond my means. So, any advice would be appreciated, thanks. |
RE: Door doesn't match, advice needed
When the door was painted, the shop didn`t mix the paint right and didn`t blend the paint with your fender and 1/4 panel. Thats why it looks different. You can try painting the door again with the correct paint mixture. Depending on the color and how well the paint has been taken care of will result a better match.

Take it to a good body shop. One guy that we take our cars to will mix the paint by the factory code and then test the paint and then lighten or darkent he paint to match the years of abuse the rest had. ONce he gets done you cant even tell what he painted. Just ask around at different shops. Usually a small body shop (1-3 guys) will do the best work since they need all the word of mouth advertising.
