Product to take wax residue off of black door trim?
Hi Guys (and Gals),
A bozogot white wax residue on the flat black door trim (above the window) of my sonic GT. Anyone know of a specific product that will take the residue off of that trim with out messing it up? Since it is flat black and is bumpy I didn't want to just try anything and see what happened.
Please share. It is driving me bananas!
Thanks, SonicStanGirl

There's a product called Wax Blaster. Duragloss makes a product to remove wax and so do a few different companies.

Poorboy's trim restorer is a good product too.
A good ole pink eraser might work too.

I've always had good results using a shop rag and WD-40. Spray it on the rag and buff the trim with it. It will take off the wax residue and anything else on the plastic. It will leave a dull finish, non greasy finishwith which you could then apply a thin coat of Armor All or equal trim product. Just go lightly and use your finger nail behind the rag along the edge of the trim to act as a straight edge to avoid gettting WD-40 on the paint. You don't want to remove the wax from there [8D]

WD40.
An all purpose cleaner cut with water to start with.
Isopropyl alcohol cut with water about 50/50 to start with.
Use the above with an old toothbrush.
I've not tried it, but I have heard...
Peanut butter.
Use with cotton towels.
Afterwards, dress the trim with something like Poorboys trim restore, Mothers back to black or similar.

I don't know about removing wax but I use Black Again on all the exterior black parts it says it's safe for and it brings out the color real well, and any dried residue from my waxing/polishing regiment is gone so it works for me.

I let someone else wax my car once, and never again! They left residue all over my black trims. I used black magic to get it off. Works pretty well and it makes it look real nice. It's meant for tires, but it'll work for this as well. Just be careful to not get it on the paint itself.

Ditto on Back-to-Black. While it doesn't always remove the wax on the first application, it pretty much takes care of the problem safely.
Another option is to use a warm, strong car wash solution and a gentle brush, followed by your favorite trim detailer.
But using Back-to-Black is a good idea periodically, especially before you wax. I find Back-to-Black is not only longer lasting than Meg's Trim Detailer, but for those of you who might have aging trim, I find it also restores better.

Thank you everyone for the great ideas. I saw the back to black product and was going to buy one of them but then thought that it might look weird on that flat black trim. I have used it before on other cars that has a slick black finish.
My black trim above my driver and passenger windows has a roughness to it.Is that normalor is mine the only one?
