No results with a PC

My friend let me borrow his PC. I tried it out with some Meguires Color X polish and it didn't work. All the scratches in the clear coat are still there. And not to mention my car now has little white dots from the PC spitting the polish.

scratch x does not do any thing you need a polish like an optimum compound that will let it do anything

and also what color af pad were you useing

yeah youre definitely doing something wrong. i just used one on my car and it made my paint look incredible. like 99gtvert said, make sure you use some quality polish and the correct pads.

I used the orange pad and then the black pad.

I was told that was the best otc polish.

ColorX is like a cleaner wax IIRC. Like 99 GT Vert said. You need a polish or a compound and you'll also need a orange LC pad for your PC or a white LC pad for your pc.
Optimum Polish,
ObsessiveDetail Light Polish

RE: No results with a PC

You can avoid getting little dots of polish all over the place by spreading it around with the PC off before you start, and then never lifting the PC off the paint while it's running. And if you start with the orange pad, you'll probably want to follow with the white pad. The black pad doesn't cut at all.

You should change your thread title to "No results with garbage OTC polish"

Get the proper polishes, work at speeds 5-6 very very slowly and learn to properly break down the polish and you'll get results with the right polish.

definitely go white pad then orange pad

Actually, you want to use the white pad after the orange pad. The orange pad is a light cutting pad and the white pad is a polishing pad.

Also, if it splattered product, you we're using too much on the pad. Also, turn the polisher off before you lift it from the paint surface.

+2 on using a quality polish. Nothing OTC is worth a damn, as far as polishes go. (IMHO) If you want a professional finish, learn professional techniques, and use only the best products.
