Default How long to wait to wax a new car?

My '11 needs a good cleanup. Thought I'd clay it then hit it with a good coat of wax.

Any idea how long I should wait to do this? Just picked it up about three and a half weeks ago. Assume it was built within the past 90 days.

You can wax it whenever you like. The cars paint is baked on from the factory, you don't have to worry about it curing. Go ahead and wax that baby up!

You don't have to clay bar it so soon, The clear coat is still brand new and there are no blemishes on it (unless there are blemishes from the factory).

False. A new car does need to be clay barred. From the car being in transit, the paints finish is pretty rough. Unless you picked the car up from the factory, it doesn't need to be clay barred. You can wax the car right way! I recommend Adams Americana paste wax, it produces a shine like no other! For durability try Adams machine superwax. It is a sealant, but is does have nice shine. In the older days where cars weren't baked you had to wait for the solvents to gas, nowadays you don't, technology advances. Here is a great link

Also for get how to detailing videos search on YouTube for junkman2000.
What I recommend for you is to clay bar the car, polish the car with fine machine polish and then apply wax or sealant of choice. I am assuming your cars finish is not to bad. Any more questions, just ask.

You can definitely wax it right away in fact I would recommend it to save yourself from having to really polish it out. And please do not use turtle wax is it far from ftw.

From what I understand, clear coats have to harden for 3 months or so. But, from what I've seen, most cars a sold way after that anyway. But Clear Coats have to cure or harden. I've always used Mequires Pro Products. Haven't seen any shine beat it yet, on our cars.

Absolutely. A good test is to take a microfiber cloth and lightly rub it over the surface of the paint. You'll be able to feel the resistance from the imperfections that you can clay off. You can feel that with your fingers, too.

Took a bunch of crap off with clay today. Then finished it up with Meguiar's one step cleaner wax. Typically I do the clean/polish/wax thing but on a new car it wasn't necessary.

Looks good. I'll take some pics tomorrow and post them in this thread, or maybe I'll make another thread in the members rides section.
