Hi guys/gals... I just joined. Not sure where to post! lol...

I made a few posts already, not sure if I posted them properly. But what I wanted to say is this.... I just bought a 2013 V6 Mustang. Washing is was my main concern. So I bought that Spotfree water thing.

I just discovered something today. I used Maguires window cleaner on the paint to see how it did removing the "micro-scratches" and guess what? It seemed to work!

Anyone else tried this?

Welcome to MF.. and can't say I have used that.. but I'm curious as to scratches in a finish so new.. maybe use a clay bar to clean it up.. and use very soft materials and cleansers to wash.

Welcome. Congrates on the new Stang. I am going to move this over to our "Detailing" section as they are very knowledgeable when it comes to what does, and what doesn't work!

I have a 2013 Mustang with the polished alum. wheels. I'm wondering what's a good way to clean/polish them?

first, welcome and congrats on the stang...

second, i don't think you removed the micro scratches, but just hid them...to remove scratches requires polish and a polisher...a Porter Cable 7424xp will do wonders for you and you dont need to worry it's 100000000% safe...i would stop putting glass cleaner on your paint, you're most likely eating away at your clearcoat

when you say polished aluminum do you mean with clearcoat or not?

Hi jtgerik... Sorry for the late reply. Of course, the micro-scratches weren't there when I got the stang. I must have done something to cause them, though I'm not sure how because I use a water deionizer with micro cloths.

Yesterday, I stopped off at a new store. They sell 3D products (not sure if that's the name of the product, or the name of their store). Anyway, I took my Mustang there and told him what I needed (remove the micro-scratches). Well, he came out of the store with a clay product. He applied it to a small portion of the hood. He then asked me to feel how much smoother the area he did was than the rest of the car. Sure, it was smoother, but I pointed out that the micro scratches were still there (it was easy to see them because it was sunny). Then he took me back into his store and recommended another product. At this point he'd kind of lost credibility because after having told him what I needed, he wasn't able to meet my needs.

Which brings me to my next question. I got a kit, made from Meguires, "clay kit". I'm not really sure what it does though. I'm not interested in covering up the scratches, but removing them. I have posted in other threads and have gotten some really great advice.

My question is, what exactly does, "Clay" do?

PS... heh (the employee of the 3D store, lost all credibility after trying to apply the clay BEFORE cleaning the car. Even I know you can NOT do ANYTHING before you completely wash a car! If you don't wash it first, all you're doing is rubbing in what ever dirt's on the car, into the paint! (sigh)...
