Longish Term Car Cover Help

Hello all. I have 2005 V6. I love it. Anyway, I may have a job offer soon that would require me to be away for six months straight. I do not have the luxury of putting my car in a garage, so it must sit outside in the Florida heat and humidity during the worst times of the year in terms of rain, heat, and humidity.

My question is, if I was to put a cover over it (most likely a cheaper one since I can't afford something expensive), would there be any adverse impacts to the car by leaving it on for six months straight in the direct sun, humid, rainy environment stated above?

Would the paint be okay, would it get moldy, etc... The reason I want to cover it is to not have an inch thick layer of pollen, sand, and other crap be on it when I get back.

Please let me know what you guys think. Thank you!

Have you looked into renting a covered storage place?

In regards to a car cover? wouldn't it be worth a few dollars more to get a quality one? A $50 WalMart special isn't what I would trust for six months straight.

Thanks for the fast reply! However, if I had that extra money to spend, I probably wouldn't be driving a 2005 V6 (even though I love it and still baby the hell out of it) Lol.

Regardless, a buddy of mine owns a bunch of local properties, and one of them has a free garage space. For $25 a month, I can leave it in there. Problem solved! Now to move on to the other problems this journey will create... :icon_razz:

I was going to say that if you shop around you can probably get something for 25- 50 bucks a month.......but you beat me to it...lol. Your kind of lucky, I tried to get a spot here and they wanted $125 a month to leave a snowmobile trailer outside. I almost had to go change my Huggies :-) . But found one for $25 per 15 mins outside town.

Car cover? Find something that breathes. Also, an RV trick : Get a package of Bounce dryer sheets and spread them inside your car incase you get some critters. They don't like the sweet smell and will stay away. Ever seen the damage mice can do to a car/boat/RV ?
