How to restore faded plastic?
Can anyone recommend something to help restore the faded plastic on my 2006 Stang?
It's honestly embarrassing!!
The plastic cowl & mirrors & rocker panels are an ugly grey instead of black...
Does anyone know anything I can use that will last?
thanks

I've used this before and works pretty good, lasts about 1-2 weeks then had to reapply. But it's the best I've found.

Check out http://www.adamspolishes.com
I use VRT (vinyl, rubber, trim dressing ) on bumper trim and moldings and it works great.

Most shine/gloss/color restore products are temporary. The fading in color is from the suns UV rays that actually bleach the color pigments in the plastic. Once they are bleached, there is no way to "restore" the look permanently other than replacing the trim in question. You could try to spray paint the trim with the desired color. Never tried it myself but in my opinion, that would eventually crack or peel and end up looking even worse (like a peeling painted bumper.
The only thing you can do is prevent the fading to happen in the first place. To do this you have to treat the trim regularly with products that contain a UV protectant. Most people (me included) don't think about their plastic other than making it shine. Most shine products do not contain UV protectants or if they do contain it, aren't applied as often as required to prevent sun damage.

I'd love for them to run the same comparison test in central Arizona or in most any southwestern state during any month between June through Sept.
Not knocking them or their testing but it never gets hot in PA and their UV index is also low on the scale so, there's built in bias there due to environment. It'd b like doing a test for a wet weather/freeze type of product in AZ. No comparison to PA.
