Paint code for 02 GT's?
 

There are a few stone chips that I want to take care of with the touch up paint. I'm having a hard time with the paint code. On the door panel, it says the code for the ext pnt is F9 or E9. When I go to the auto parts stores to find the touch up paint, I can't find the code anywhere. I can find a couple of Ford reds for 2002, but not with the correct paint code. Does anybody know what red paints were put on the 02 Mustang GT's?

Go to any ford dealer, theyll have it.

There was 2 reds in 2002
Laser Red - Paint Code E9
Torch Red - Paint Code D3

Thanks for the advice. I can't find either of the codes on the guide for the touchup paint at the stores, so I guess I'm off to the dealer with the car.

Well, paint code was E9. That didn't really help though. Seems this paint is a 3 stage paint, and they don't sell just a touchup kit. The dealer did have a small amount he gave me of the top color, not the base or the clear, and I am going to try it. It looks a little dark though.

.............. the "real" laser red was only made in 2000. In 2001, it was made darker, known as a "tinted" laser red. The ford dealer gave us the info; when we ordered our car, the paint was messed up and the dealer COULD NOT paint it properly. The car I have now is actually the 2nd car they had ordered for me because the first one was unacceptable. The original laser red was too dificult to repair which was why they only made it like they did for the 2000 models. In 2001, it got darker. My friend has a 2002 Laser red or "E9" colored mustang and it is NOT the same, his is darker than mine is.
