young and what is the other word?

why bother with the super huge and pointless project? the work it would take to fabricate everything nessissary to do that, you could find a rust bucket and get it resto'd. you want a FB, buy a FB. take it from me. i have a 66 coupe and i have my work cut out for me with this one! i don't really see why anyone would bother with such a huge headache.

oh, and if you have a FB roof, where the hell is the rest of the FB? you're gonna hunt one down just to cut it up and throw it on a coupe body?! waste of time if you ask me. we had one guy here that did it with 2 salvage or wrecked cars a coupe and a FB. not bad, the job came out sweet, but if you don't have a lot of skill and a lot af time from what i saw, you're just gonna get fustrated with it and than there will be 2 ****ed stangs.

i'm glad to hear about your addiction, and welcome to the forums.

there are more replacement parts are avalable for fastbacks lately. your're looking at over 2grand for glass and sheet metal that's not counting the little things like door panels, vents etc. High potential for leaks if it's not done correctly. then there is that structural strength issue.

Let's not forget about labor. That will probably cost more than the parts. Buy a fastback!!

okay, two things, first can you elaborate a little on this and second, even if there are more parts for the FB's what about those of us who are partial to the coupes? just like some people swear by the notches and others by hatches (foxes). my point was, why waste a coupe? why cause that much more damage and get in over your head? i'm not trying to belittle this guy, but it's juat pointless to do that. save up a few bux and find a fb. just don't destroy a coupe, hollywood and mainly F&F are destroying enough of ALL types of classics, we don't need more hitting the shredder.

now, i digress, if he HAS a fb with a destroyed frame and body and a coupe with a busted top, okay, go for it, but be forewarned, you are in for a lot of work if you don't have time and/or money.

converting into a fastback, isnt the same as owning a true fastback. i was considering converting a 70 fastback to a 69 fastback, but i didnt cause it wouldnt have been a 69 fastback, which is what i wanted. if you really want a fastback, then by a fastback, dont tear apart a coupe. trust me, coupes look ALOT better in real life then they do over a computer screen, i didnt really like the 69 coupe untill i went to look at it in person, and i really love it

+1

i own one and i think the same thing. although i still NEED a 69 FB!!!

and GG, you can find teh same parts for coupes too. NOS parts and repros. not everyone cares abotu getting NOS and personally, i don't care about nos vs repro. i'm building my car for me, i'm gonna get whatever outta it while i own it, hopefully never give it up and when i do, i'll have recouped my spending at least triple in fun hours!
