Default Radiator Overflows over 50mph

New Radiator, pump, and thermostat. The cap is old. It was fine yesterday, its not overheating. It just spits fluid out of the overflow tank when I go over 50. Whats wrong?

that would be my guess. it may look good but in reality the spring could be worn out and tired.

I was thinking that. Also the lower rad. hose also isnt in the best shape, and it might have a slight sharp angle when it turns into the pump...

When your engine is cold, the overflow tank should only be about 1/4 full. If you are belching water out the top of the recovery bottle, you have too much water in it. Yeah, and change that old cap out to a new 13 pound one.

is it sharp enough to pinch off the hose and flow of the coolant? if so you could possibly have air still inside that needs to be burped out and it may be causing further pressure in the system, which in turn may cause your over flow problem.

i'd flush it, get new hoses and a new cap, remember to let it burp real good and get all the air out. i like to let mine run a good 5 to 10 minutes, filling as it burps (CAREFULLY, we already had one member get burned yesterday!)

Explain this burping procedure...

fill the rad, start the car, leave the rad cap off, CAREFULLY watch the bubbles come out of the system.

it removes the air trapped after the coolant gets drained, hence burping.

you'll prolly need to let it run for a few to get it all out
