Default A LOT of questions for my '65

Ok guys here we go...

Question 1: Occasionally when I accelerate and I hit a bump my accelerator will "floor itself" and I find myself rocketing into a parking lot. Does anyone on here have a picture of their throttle linkage that I could compare to mine so hopefully I won't find myself in a brick wall somewhere?

Question 2: How hard is it to install one of those valences with a license plate delete I think its called an R valence.

Question 3:Anyone know of a really good seat recover-er lol in the Dallas/Fort Worth area? My friend tore a hole in my passenger seat and I need it fixed?

Last one: When I get the exterior painted how hard would it be to paint the interior panels and dash myself? While im on the subject of painting and dash What do you guys think about a Wimbeldon White with Rangoon Red stripes? And who has a picture of a 65 dash pad installed in their car?

I know its a lot. All help is appreciated THANKS!

#1 : you probably need new spring on the throttle linkage to return it to the closed position(or the spring might be there just really weak)

2: the "R" model valance isnt that hard to install pretty much u you just remove the stock bumper and stone guard etc and bolt it in place there are 2 styles one that keeps the stock front bumper and one that deletes it.if you go with a r valance with out the bumper then there will be 2 hols that need to be filled for a finished look in the front fenders

3: no idea. why dont you just buy the upolstery and recover it yourself its very cheap you will also need hog ring pliers and a hog rings to go along with it

not a big fan of stripes on a coupe but the color combo would be good
4: painting the interior your self can be done with rattle can or by a spray gun and compressor. yes it can be done you just mask off the glass trim etc and go at it

if you look where the valance meets the fender there is no hole for the bumper brace

I though the same at first but when I read the post again I'm not so sure. A weak springcan prevent return but it sounds like this one is actually increasing throttle. Does the accelerator pedal actually move on it's own or does the car just speed up with the pedal not moving? And how do you get it to stop? I could show you a stock 289 2 bbl but that is probably different since you have a Holly on it. Any chance this could be a vacuum problem?

i doubt it. if the spring is really weak it can do this, more than likely its missing altogether.

The spring is defintely there and I am no longer running the holley (I need to change my sig) I converted back to a 2100 for better gas mileage. The gas pedal is literally being pulled to the floor. To get it to stop I throw it in neutral and slam on the brakes.

as for the lower valence. i just used a cutting tool and cut out the indent part out. and put black metal mesh behind it. i cleaned it up real good. and you can use the bumper with it.

also on the interior items, visit your local autozone and check out the paint aisle. they have this plastic interior dye for plastic panels. its in a spray can. and itll re dye your panels in some limited colors. also you can get vinyl spray dye at autozone and can redo soft trim.

Thanks for the help guys

Something funny I might add is after I posted the very first post a driver who was hopped up on perscription pills took the corner on my street to fast and spun into the rear of my stang. So I'll be getting a new bumper, valence, gas tank(which i need), and hopefully a paint job.

But until all that gets worked out I'm going to start saving for the R valence with the front bumper still attached.

Anybody have a picture of a 65 dash pad in their car?
Standard interior IDK if it really makes a difference with the dash pad. Thanks!

Do the painting yourself. Dont do what Hot70Mach1 said. Order PAINT from a mustang parts catalog that matches your interior color. Vinyl dye sucks on metal parts, it will come off easily and it just doesnt do the job like paint does (i did vinyl dye on my interior first cuz i was sent the wrong stuff and it sucks hardcore). Just tape everything off EXTREMELY carefully and then do some light coats of paint.

with the valence, sometimes (read usually) fiberglass parts do not fit correctly so you will need to modify them, which i have heard can be tough.

I have never been a fan of white with red stripes. it should be the other way if anything...

google image search "1965 mustang interior" and you will get some pics with the dash pad.
