Default Finally got some time

As most of you know, I've had my car for awhile and finally moved into a place with a garage. Now I finally got some time, so Jinxed is under the wrench. I get about 2 hours every night to work on it now and some time on the weekends.
here are the First steps down a long road of recovery.

Tonight the intake and heads are comming off. I'm gonna replace pretty much the whole top of the motor. Oh ya any suggestions on what to put back in the 289 are welcome. I'm keeping the cylnders stock, but wanna bump up the cam, lifters and heads. New intake and 4bbl carb. As well. (maybe some short headers) Wanting to make a street/strip motor. Something I can drive to work a couple times a week, but still goto the drags on Friday night and not be embrassed. Lemme know what works and what don't.

Ya, works been kickin me in the ***. Plus I picked up some freelance projects (a flyer (points at Clutch), a couple of Tshirt designs, and some web site graphics.) I finally had some time yesterday afternoon to make myself a sig lol. (file server was down at work so couldn't do much) Plus ATV season is about to shift into overdrive as the weather gets cooler. So been spending some time on the banshee. (lowered it, had my shocks rebuild, got some new fenders and lights and stuff)

As for the car, didn't get to work on it last night. Been looking on line this morning for some ideas on what todo cam wise. Found the intake I want and I think maybe the carb and new fuel pump. Weiland intake, Holley carb and pump. Been tryin to nail down a set of lifters but don't know what kind togo with. [:'(]

I have been thinking about putting a 289 Hipo cam equilvant in and a set of mechanical lifters. Then some nice Aluminum heads and the intake and carb setup you were talking about and you would be rolling. FAST

Hey Shaun.......I know how it is to be busy....ask me how I know. Good choice on the Weiland intake, but I would rethink the holley stuff. Yeah, I know a lot of folks swear by them, but a lot of others think they are a pain in the butt to adjust and dial in. Good to see you back on here.

Rethinking this Shaun.....If you are going with the Weiand and Holley's, think about going with the Hooker headers. Those three seem to go together like a hand in a glove.

I used to run a weiland hirise intake with a holley 750 (I know HUGE) double pumper with dual fuel lines on my 327. Everyone told me it would be to much for that small engine but to everyones surprise with a lot of adjusting I got it dialed in good enough to pop one front tire off the ground on a 71 El camino [:-] and it won me alot of money back in HS. I'm thinking maybe a 600 or 650 with a hi rise intake. I'd def do the hooker headers, Unless I do a complete exhaust system from somewhere like Borla or something. At the moment I'm really focusing on research on Cams and lifters. Seeing how with out those I can't put on a new carb and intake. Thanks for the advice. It broke 100 degrees here again today so I didn't work on the stang. Hopefully this weekend will be cooler. I got a fourwheeler race Friday night, first flat track race for me, I'm cited. But the rest of the weekend belongs to the girlfriend and the stang.
