Default STEERING......HELP!!!!!!

i have a 1968 mustang coupe, i recently replaced the inner shaft of the steering column because in 1968 they came out with a colapsable column and it seems to me that my car had been hit once and the column collapsed and the inner shaft was not replaced. i replaced the inner shaft with one from a donor column. when i went to reinstall the entire column, (because i had to remove the entire unit to replace the inner) the end of the new shaft was about a half of an inch away from seating properly on the ragjoint. i tried to find some adjustment in the column housing through where it fastens and i think that i have taken all the adjustment it has, is there more i dont know about? do rag joints colapse as well? am i missing a spacer of some sort? and are there any differences between the power steering cars and the non power steering cars in the length of the inner steering shaft as i may possibly have one from a unit that had power steering? PLEASE HELP ME!!! im 17 and i cant be left with out a set of wheels for the ladies, i cant figure it out, any information is greatly appreciated

HELP!!!!!

Hi Daver,

I don't have a '68, but is there any chance you could post a picture of what you've got. Then maybe the guys with '68s could see and compare it to their cars.

Good luck!

Scott
