Default Mods: Why is there an option to edit the title of posts when we cant?

It's frustrating me!
Everytime I mistype a letter or something in my title
or find a more fitting title I try to edit it with the advaced edit and
it ends up not working. What gives?

If you don't want is to do it then jcan't you just remove that option
instead of teasin us? lol.

I have been wondering this for a while.

Anyways. Thanks for the response in advance!

This is typical of forum software. The post title and topic title are not the same things. You can edit post titles but you can't edit topic titles. Hope that makes sense.

hmm.... i was able to edit a post title freely; and even though i am a moderator, i don't believe i should have any extra editing privileges outside of my section. are you sure you were trying to edit a post title and not a thread title?

for you it is a combo of a post count thing and being a new member. an increased post count will fix your problem . welcome to the forums btw, and please don't kill me

iirc, the restrictions on viewing attachments may stem from the classified section (so, in general, 'new' members won't come in, 'buy' a part, and stiff the seller). i think that setting is set globally throughout the forum

i was there when the new for sale section was being set up and got to mod the old one for a while. we kept shooting around ideas on how to clean up that forum but i dont remember that being one of them. patrick must've set it up with the switch to vbulletin.
i always thought that people with fewer than 50 posts and less than a months membership time were not allowed in to the section. didn't know of this other restriction.
