Default computer chips

I got a question I hear that adding a computer chip will hurt the engine b/c the chip makes it run a max performance all the time. Is this true? and also any one you guys recommend one chip being better than another? thanks

My friend has what's called a "Superchip Microtuner". It plugs under your dash computer port (under the plastic dash and to the right).

All you do is turn the car off, plug it in....then it asks you questions like

Do you want to use the economy 89 octane or performance 93 settings.

Run fan at 160,180,200 degrees

Change top speed

Change rev limiter

Gear setting 2.73, 3.27, 3.73, 4.10...etc.

It's pretty good for a couple of things. I'm getting one as soon as I save up $300. But it works by changing the fuel/air ratios and the timing. It's not a seat off your pants feel, but none of the chips are. The great thing is that it stores your factory settings on the unit (but doesn't allow other cars to use it), so when u want the performance settings off, you plug it in again and answer the questions..........whew!

none of the off the shelve chips run at max. only way you will get that is go to a tuner and run it on a dyno..why waste you $$$ on one of those..this is why pms,tweecer,f.a.s.t. or become the norm for computer

Mod chips hurt your car because they arent made specificly for your car, you might have modded your car and it wont know that, its just trying to change set calibrations in your car. They really arent worth the money. As my late X-Fiance's mother use to say "They aint worth the powder to blow em to hell"

Your best bet is to go to a shop, have it dyno'ed and tuned. Thats your best bet and it will absolutly NOT hurt your car. And btw, just because it asks you what diff setting you would like to run at, doesnt make your stock 2.73's run like 4.10's

Sup,

And where do you get this "Superchip microtuner" For some reason i am not believing the makes stock gears work like a 4.10. How could that be possible with actually having the 4.10 gear?

I swear by the use of a MAF tuner instead of a chip...
