Also, if money isnt an issue, there are systems made that block radar/laser, so they cant read you speed at all, i have a phaserII which is supposed to block radar/laser but i got a ticket with it, unless the cop was full of it, but the other day i passed a cop goin 25 over and he didnt stop me, so i'm not too sure if i got lucky or if it worked. The phaserII is made by rocky mountain radar.

Radar scramblers are illegal in every state and they don't work anyway.Laser scramblers are legal and they do work to a degree.
Get the best radar detector you can afford because the cheap ones either give false alerts and you quit paying attention to them or they don't have very good range.
I have a V1 and the directional arrows are a great feature for telling where the radar source is.I drive through several small towns on my way to work and some times the cop is out with his radar and some times they are parked at the police station with the radar turned on.When you initially pick up the signal you can't tell where they are untill you pass the street where the police station is.The arrows point to the side as you pass the location of the radar.Without the arrows you can't tell whether the cop is sitting at the edge of town waiting on you or is at the station.V1 is also upgradeable by sending the unit back to the factory for software updates.Customer service is very good also.
I recommend the V1 without reservation.

See i was always totaly against a radar dector, for the mian reason being its only good if hes sitting somewhere clocking people this is the only time its useful, no protecting against a cop see u flying down a street. Could 1 of u guys receomend a lazer scramble?

If you get the escoprt passport 8500 make sure it's the x50 model (I have this one). It works great, best range (beats out valentine in everyh independant test I've seen). There is a better on out now, it's made by "Bell" which recently bought out escort and merged the technologies between (there were pretty much the same before, Bell just had a couple more bells and whistles). One of my best friends has this new one and it works just as good as mine but has less false alerts (this is key). I don't know off hand what this one was called but it's the top of the line made by Bell that mounts on the windshield (the liscence plate ones are mostly over a grand and require an actual install). You could probably find a used 8500 x50 on ebay for not too much. Try to get one with a blue display as opposed to a red one (way easier on the eyes at night). That said I have gotten 2 tickets in the last two days (one clocked me at 96 in a 70 zone when I was actually doing 140 when my detector went off. a $140 ticket is better than a $1000 dollar one and a suspeded liscence. The other one was 41 over but they were both bumped down to regular tickets). Oh and this is in km/h and canadian dollars. Not a good weekend for me, but seeing as how I always drive way over the limit and I have only had 3 tickets in the last 2 years (since I got the detector) I don't think I'm doing too bad. too bad I was driving my ru for the second one (winter car, '05 v6 for my summer car) or else I just wouldn't have stopped.

Anywayze, Hope that help (and hopefullyy the story entertained you).

I hate to brake the news to you but if you get a radar/lazer detector you'd be pissing your money away..

I say this because I am a Cop and trained in both radar and lazer..

Lazer is by far used more and is much more accurate and faster.. Point, click and got ya..

Even if I didn't get a lock and I can use that good old ticket called 'unreasonable and imprudent speed'. Which basically give me the the ability to write the ticket and give my opinion why it needed to be issued..

Just slow down, drive smart and save the horsepower for when you really need it.. Besides, you look like a nub raceing around but look much cooler going slow and having people wonder what ya got done to your stang when they hear you rumble by..

See up until now i thought that radar dectors were useless, and i was just hit with a ticket for 65 in a 45 which here in IL is reckless. so it was 95 bucks and he was right behind me in an unmaked car. thats y i was leaning more towards the pro v 1 cuz of the directinal arrow, but i use to think that they were useless cuz there only good when hes ahead of u clocking people. I do have one more question for the cop. If i get pulled over dont u have to show me the speed i was clocked at on the gun leaglly? or is this a bunch of hogwash?
