Just checkin....
The guy from Tire Rack told me to put 255/45/17s on my 17X9 Cobra R rims. I don't use the car for drag racing or anything. I know other people on here use 275s (atleast out back). Is 255 wide enough to protect the rim from curb rash and properly seal? Thanks in advance

RE: Just checkin....
yes. 255s are about as wide as you are really supposed to go on a 9" rim.
It's hard to squeeze a fatter street tire on there in such a low profile. I have put 275s on them but it was really hard to get them on and it put alot of strain on the sidewall and the bead. It's alot easier with drag radials because of the flex in the sidewall.

I have a 265/35-18 tire on an 18x9 wheel. It was listed as the maximum safe size for a 9" wide wheel by BFG (manufacturer of my tire).
I have 295/35-18 on 18x10 wheels on the back. Both were listed as the maximum safe size. They don't bulge over the sides or anything, looks like a good fit.
