Default fan not kickin on after SC

Anyone have any ideas? I just installed a Vortech on my 95' and everything is kosher except the cooling fan isn't kicking on. The thermostat is obviously working, as I get good temp reading at the stock water temp guage, however it just keeps getting hotter without the fan kicking on, I have to run the AC to mandate that the fan operates. Could I have damaged the fan relay when I took it out? Any sensors I should check? Thanks in advance.

Could be the fan relay or a bad temp sensor.

OK. If its the temp sensor, wouldn't that cause the temp guage to read incorrectly?

Not always. It may be sending a false reading to the computer while guage is still working, therefore its not letting the fan kick on.

You can test the sensor with an ohmmeter. If you check it when the engine is cold. You should read around 74 ohms. If engine is hot (full operating temp) it should be around 9.7 ohms.

OK, I will test it. If I pull the sensor off, the fan kicks on and runs perfect, with the CEL on. If I plug it back in, fan goes off.

Yep. It sounds like a bad sensor to me.

Separate sensor for the gauge and the fan.

You are correct, I noticed that after pulling the fan sensor and seeing the temp guage still working.
