New to the board - hi all! I got my dream car last Friday (2006 V6 Pony w/ 60 miles on it). I went to pick it up and the salesman said that on their test drive of the car (came from another dealership) the tranny was making a strange noise. Basically when you don't have the clutch in the engine kindof whines; sounds like maybe the clutch is not disengaging. Anyway, they said the service manager looked at it and is going to replace the entire tranny! Of course I am freaking out that I bought a brand new car and has to have a new tranny. My question is: Do the new stangs have tranny problems or am I just the lucky owner of a problem tranny??

Guess I am lucky they are replacing it instead of "fixing it".

They're not replacing the whole transmission (I wouldn't hope so, anyway)... because that sound is just the sound of your throwout bearing, it's normal... there's going to be a little bit of sound, but if it's loud, you just got a bad bearing. That's probably all that needs to be done by your description.

I'm not positive which transmission the 05+'s have, because the 05 guys seclude themselves to their little forum [:@] but if it's the TR3650, it's normally a pretty solid transmission, short of synchronizer problems.

The service guy told me yesterday (when I dropped the car off) that my transmission had come in (they ordered me a new one last week). I am pretty freaked about the whole thing!

Still love the car though!! Glad I bought the extended warranty though!!
