Not necessarily. Im pretty sure the 9s go on the back and the 8s on the front. The prevous owner probably did this to have wider tires on the rear without having the rear tires stick out noticably compared to the fronts. If you look at the car from the front or rear I bet you will see that the difference between the front and rear will be on the inside ( between the back sides of the rims) of the car and the outsides of the rims will be even. I wouldnt really worry about it too much. If it looks good, run it.

Its really all about back-spacing. Back-spacing is the measurement of the center of the rim to the back lip. The 8s have a deeper offset in order to put the outside lip in the same place as the 9s. To really understand Back-spacing go to www.summitracing.com I think they have something there to explain it and they can make it more understandable than I can.

Damn 80's stangs sell cheap in the US, Up here in Canada they sell for least $3500 for 6 cyl, $3500-4500 for V8's, I seen a sweet deal with 89 lx 302 coupe 5 spd all stock for $2500 obo, I had my cash that week I would have grabed it. heya IMPORTDIS just a tip for ya, Most stangs are common for oil leaks in the 80's, most cases if they are leaking oil they have more miles on them, then what the seller is telling you, Ive own over 10 stangs, they all have the same out looks, As I look at it, If you can get a fair priced stang, just think buying the car right out, is the best way, instead of making car payments that money could be put in youre payment less stang Good Luck dude !

thanks bmorrisj

e40water I have come accross a few good deals, just have to be patient and wait till one come along the way. I brought my current stang for $2,300 but so far I have dumped $1,500 just to get it running decent and look some what ok. This is actually my 3rd stang, I have owned a 92gt which was in mint condition with low miles and I owned an 89notch that was also in somewhat decent condition but made a stupid decision to sell it. I kick myself now for selling it!!!
