98GT Front End Accident, Loose above 55mph
I have a 98GT that got in a fight with a guard rail in the front left. I had to replace the fender, hood, L side lights and panel. The frame is straight as an arrow and required only "minor" repair/pull.. Now when I approach speeds above 55+ especial durring acceleration if the vehicle gets any movement especially side to side it is very loose in the front end and almost feels un-stable. Any beginning ideas? Ive checks shocks, wheels, etc on the basics. Sorry there isn't any more info but any advice or starting points would help.. After visual inspection nothing seems bent or loose, and on the ground the vehicle when pushed from side to side seems to have no abnormal movement or sway.

During the accident was the control arm/spindle area bent or damaged at all?

If youre getting a loose front end feel, then first check youre alignment. That will tell you alot. Like if youre (like Vert said) spindle is bent, strut is bent. Things like that. Also check youre sway bar links. One might have snaped when the accident happened.

RE: 98GT Front End Accident, Loose above 55mph
Yeah I forgot to mention that I checked most of that stuff. I re-posted at the top since I forgot about this one. I have narrowed my problems down to 1. Bald spots on the tires.. And my Caster/Camber is way off.. Since I cant remove my own posts ill have to leave it up to the moderator to remove one of em.. SO to re-iterate and probably piss of a few people.. (Sorry)
Will I have problems putting an adjustable caster/camber plate on only one side? Also I have found a Steeda kit for 152$ and some higher looking performance and more professional BBK etc for around 209$ any suggestions there. THanks |
