5.0 or 4.6 for street driving?
In your opinion, which engine is more enjoyable to drive on the street? What are the power/torque bands like on each engine and how do they compare? Im guessing the 5.0 is torquier than the 4.6, but im sure theres other things about these engines I dont know. Because the output of the late 5.0 and early 4.6 is similar, which one 'feels' faster? I dont know alot about the two and I want to hear some opinions to find out which one would be a better choice for me. Thanks

RE: 5.0 or 4.6 for street driving?
Before this car now, I had an '86GT 5.0 5-speed and, both were a ton of fun on the street! But if I had to pick one based just purely on the engine & nothing else,, I'd probably go with the 4.6. The thing LOVES to rev & sounds pretty good!
If your plans include a lot of modding though, they say the 5.0 is easier/cheaper to work with. So it depends on what your plans are.

Thanks for the imput, it would be between a late (94-95) 5.0 and a early 4.6 (96-98) before the PI heads/intake... would this sway your opinions?
Also for those who owned both, is the gas mileage much different between the two engines? Id guess the 4.6 would be more refined and get better mileage, but you never know.

if its a 5.0 vs a NPI 4.6 take the 5.0 hands down.

So the NPI 4.6's are really that bad? Would.. say.. a 95 5.0 GT be a better platform than a 96 4.6 GT? Im looking into getting an sn95 but I dont know wether i should opt for the 4.6 or 5.0

RE: 5.0 or 4.6 for street driving?
I have a 1994GT 5spd. I love the car. I searched for my car for a couple month and then overpaid. Why? because it was a 5.0. An SN95 with a motor that can get a crap load of horsepower for a lot less money then a 4.6 (not more power just less money). I don't plan on keeping it a daily driver. I want a 2002Gt as a Daily driver. The 02 has more horsepower (stock) and the powertrain just handles power a lot better (higher RPMs). It depends how much power you want out if the Mustang. Ford switched to the 4.6 for a reason remember that.
