Default Hemi

didn't know where to post this, but is the current chrysler "hemi" a real hemi or is it just marketing hype?

It's a hemi in the sense that it has the hemi head design but it is not the 426 hemi that made the name famous. I believe it is a 351, they're putting out about 350hp. So a little bit of a scam.

I disagree...I dunno how many hemispherical engines they made but there were quite a few. It is a modern design of a age old classic.

Sad to say that the old one would smoke the new one...they should've made it more powerful.

Why is that sad?? It's awesome! You can't beat 60's muscle because emissions wasn't an issue back then, so fire-breathing big blocks came in almost everything. Granted Dodge could have easily made that kind of power with a non-hemi engine, but more than anything it is just a sales gimmick because people attribute "hemi" with incredible power and awe. It's more about bragging rights than anything. It doesn't matter what they put into it though, because nothing will top the original...

The new ones are not a 426 unless they really messed up cause it's only putting out 350hp.

i think the new hemi's are 345ci, one of my buddies was going on an on about 1 hp per cube and why ford doesn't do something better with the mustangs (the same crap i'm sure all of you have heard) i had to sit and bite my lip simply because i don't know jack about the new hemi's, which is what made me ask the question in the first place.

anyway, thanks for the info...

You haven't seen them all yet...they don't make just one engine.

As of right now, like what's in the durango and stuff is what I'm talking about. If they're still coming out with a big block in something that's awsome.
