what's a clutch pack?

The dealer told me today that I need a new "clutch pack". When I'm driving slowly in parking lots and try to turn, the wheels make a low pitched screetching sound like they're rubbing on something. They said no damage has been done, except for needing a new clutch pack, but I don't know whether or not to believe that. Can someone help explain to me what may be wrong in more detail?

The clutch pack is in the rear... I'm assuming you have a GT of some sort with an 8.8" rear with trac-lok.

I'd say what they are saying is believable. I'm too lazy to explain it all right now.

they are little clutches that make the two rear wheels turn at different speeds going around corners. but when you step on the gass, power goes to both wheels.
