Default No A/C and No Heat and OVERHEATING

First post.

I have a 97 stang 3.8 v6 ~65000mi. Last week the A/C went on the fritz. Yesterday the orange check engine light came on and my temp gauge was approaching hot. I pulled off the road checked coolent and oil both fine. I was only a couple of country road miles from my house so I turned on the heater to bleed off some heat from the engine but there was no heat. The fan works but no hot air. I am hoping that these problems are all related and the problem is just a fuse that I need to replace haha yeah right. Could a bad thermostat be the problem? please help.
