Looking to buy my first car.
Hey guys im 17 soon (end of august) and i have finally got the cash to buy my first car. I have had my heart set on a mustang for a long time now. Persoanlly i like the 1999 models and up due to the newer style but i found a very clean 98 from a dealer that offers a 4 year warranty. Here is the link to it http://newyork.craigslist.org/stn/car/182973096.html from the picture sent to me it looks very clean.
Basically what i want to know, is this a good car? Will i be satisfied with it if i buy it? Also does red really attract alot of cop attention/look good on the mustangs?
and of course if next to a friends say, 2002 altima, and both were revved heavily, what is going to win? (im hoping this is a stupid question)
O yea, and is that a good or bad price, the 5500 dollar tag on it, most likely negotiable.
Thanks in advance.

You can go to the dealership but dont let them jerk you around. You gotta do some research, put your foot down, and demand a good price. If they dont give you a price you want, just walk out. I bet they will chase you back or call you later with a lower price.

RE: Looking to buy my first car.
completly depends on where you live
im in chicago....and a good price for that may be 9 grand.....
(i wouldnt pay that much for it tho)
if i were you i would make sure i didnt pay more than 5 grand for it
NOTE: tax/title/licence/stickers are a HUGE hidden fee in a car, have you considered that you will be droping over a
grand on stuff like this?

1) red don't seem to be much of a factor about 'calling cops'. My DD truck is red as is my '59 Ranchero as well as my '84'Stang, don't stress it, don't screw up while driving either.
2) that car is too much $$$, around here they wouldn't want that much for it and out here in Arizona cars don't rust either.....

RE: Looking to buy my first car.
Do enough research to know what you're willing to pay (and what's reasonable) before you step on the lot - and then you must be willing to leave if they won't give you that price. Start the negotiations below the number you want to end up at.
Different dealers/salesman are faced with different situations. If you go on a lot that's having no trouble moving cars and end up dealing with the salesman who just posted record numbers - there's no pressure to cut you a great deal. BUT if it's the end of the month and you get the guy who needs to make his numbers, you have a much better chance.
It's easy to fall into the moment and feel like you have to make a deal right then - knowing what's a good number beforehand will help you keep your head. kbb.com and edmunds.com are both good places to look up car prices.
Good luck.
