ok another question can I buy an aftermarket hood somewhere for my 1988? I know cervini's offers hoods for a 1984 and 1985 that are just ram air, but will those hoods fit my 88?

A cowl induction hood will work just as well as a ram air. All you need is to get fresh, cool air to the engine.

it was efi, but several things made me go with the carb. One was it did not have a mass air flow sensor, so the air was not enough unless you add a maf, of course you probably know this. Therefore a larger cam, or anything else is useless unless you force the air to it. The main reason I got rid of the efi was all the darn sensors were going out. I got pissed and said, well, I want a bigger cam, and I want less junk under the hood, soooooo. And there I am. No a/c, no polution control, no efi, heck I only have 4 wires to my engine besides the spark plugs. I can crawl into the engine bay like my old 68 i had. But back to the real thing, I still want an honest to goodness shaker hood scoop for looks and to force the air to my new shiny carb. Any ideas on where to get one?

You mean Boss 429?

jlabster I don't think I've ever seen a shaker hood kit for a fox body stang.. maybe if you can find a late model Mach 1 from a wreckers & grab the parts from it, you may be able to customize it onto your car(?)
