clutch's?

Hi my names matt i just bought a 89 mustang GT and the clutch is going out on it. i have owened nothin but subaru's my whole life im only 19 and i have had 5 of them. so it is a lil different from going to a H6 awd to a V8 RWD and man i have to tell u i am enjoying it.
well anyways my question about the clutch is i found a 4cylinder clutch for only $80 brand new and i was wondering if it would bolt up to my V8. i was going to get a lightwieght flywheel but i can't afford that on a cart pushers sallary at wal-mart. so any information would be very helpful. thanks matt

RE: clutch's?

i would recommend against getting a 4 cyl clutch for the 5.0, the torque in that V8 will tear up the 4 cyl clutch really fast...as far as a good place to get a 5.0 clutch i can't really recommend but i'm sure someone who knows more will come in here

oh congrats on the new mustang!

The 4 banger clutch will just slip. Check ebay. If the car is mostly stock, you can find a cheap clutch that will be fine. I've seen the entire kits on there for $99.

RE: clutch's?

i checked ebay and i found one for like 130-150 is average. i have a friend who works for acdelco and they also carry motorcraft so she gets 50% off on stuff but sometimes thats not always cheaper and i know oem is always best to put on a oem car as of right now.
