99 mustang cobra oil question
I recently put in Mobil 1 Synthetic oil in my mustang. I'm just wondering how long can you go before oil changes? I've heard that synthetic oil lasts longer then the 3-5k miles. Anyone have any thoughts on this subject?
Thanks,

RE: 99 mustang cobra oil question
I change regular oil and filter every 5k~ miles, and synthetic every 7k~
oil last alot longer than most people think. today's oil last and lube alot better than 50 years ago, and the filters are 10x better. don't fall for the "3,000 mile rule." Its just a ruse to take your $$

RE: 99 mustang cobra oil question
Thanks for all the replies. I'm still a little confused. I questioned Mobil and it and here is the response - Mobil recommends that you take the oil to the high limit that is stated in your owner's manual or once a year which ever comes first. I looked in the owners manual but didn't notice anything about oil limits. Nomo, during the 12k do you have to add any oil or change the filter half way through? I don't put many miles on it. I have a 99 and it only has 31k on it. So i'm wondering if I'm going to be able to make it a year.

RE: 99 mustang cobra oil question
guys your making it to complicated here....5-7500 is good....I would never let an oil filter go 12k it's more important than any oil you used..if you go the 10k way change your filter at 5k and add oil....that hasting filter is in my opinion the best and they make amsoil filters as well. cleaning your k/n filter every 15k will help with the dirty oil
