98 gt intake manifold cracked.. could this be a defective part?

98 gt intake manifold cracked.. could this be a defective part?
i was driving today i smelled collant fluid i pulled over and investagated the engine couldent find anything for about an hour than i see a 1 inch wide crack in my intake manifold on my 1998 gt mustang, is this a defectective part the car only has 83,000 miles on it 
and if it isint a defect i just bought the car at a car lot isint it by law that they have to waranty me for 30days or are they not eligiable for it please help me out on anything that i have asked thankyou

Some dealers do offer a 30 day powertrain warranty,but if you bought the car and was listed "AS-IS" your stuck with the repair. [sm=oopssign.gif]

Yes, a very well known defect. Just take it to your Ford dealer and they can replace it. As of last year, they are on a recall if you experience a problem. A 180 degree thermostat or Ford Racing thermostat can help to avoid this problem by reducing the back pressure in your coolant system.

ummm at the dealer they charge around a grand to fix it. the intake from the dealer is about 500 and the labor is right around there...
you can get an intake manifold off ebay for $200 and do it yourself EASY
